What the project is about?
This fundamental project will aim to map and understanding what current resources, or knowledge, exists around accessible transport, and then identify resource or knowledge gaps. By mapping what’s out there already we will establish the research priorities for ncat as well as giving an overview of the UK disability ecosystem capabilities.
What it seeks to do?
This project will offer a current and clear baseline of the research, capabilities, and challenges. It will help measure the problem, provide evidence to guide NCAT activities, and improve efforts by coordinating national work in this field.
How it seeks to do it?
To build this resource collection we will start by collecting and collating existing research from organisations and academics engaged in working in the transport accessibility field, whilst mapping the current scope of the UK ecosystem of capabilities. The work will be validated with disabled transport users, via the the Community of Accessible Transport (CAT) panel.
What we’ve done so far?
We’ve pulled together a collection of over 600 resources which will go into an open access searchable database available for anyone to use. We are currently putting together an analysis of what content is in this resource collection, to identify our knowledge gaps. The collection will be launched on the ncat website website later in December 2024.
