Giles is Head of Profession for Future Mobility at the consultancy WSP in the UK with over 33 years’ experience in mobility, transportation planning and intelligent transport.
Giles works across the public and private sectors as senior client / director level consultant, having led major projects and research across all modes. He has a detailed understanding of the strategic needs and opportunities surrounding the mobility / transport challenges that face our networks, regions, towns, communities and cities. His future mobility remit covers decarbonisation, automation, new business models, new modes, digitisation, aggregation of services and changing attitudes, my approach being influenced by wider externalities and is outcome focused.
Giles is one of a few recognised experts in future mobility in the UK having undertaken numerous cutting-edge commissions where his thought leadership and insight is helping build ‘future ready’ thinking into strategies, policies, programmes, business cases and asset specifications. A strategic thinker with an in-depth appreciation of the challenges facing all modes of transport resulting from disruptors, both within the transportation realm and wider socio-economic and external change which influence it. He adopts human centric, design led approach coupling this with wider systems thinking to take a wholistic, customer first approach to WSP’s thinking and advice.
Since childhood Giles has had long-term orthopaedic mobility issues, the experiences of which has allowed him to bring those perspectives into his professional career.
