Document summary

For some time the design and accessibility of minibuses and small buses used to deliver a range of services has been a concern to Imtac. These concerns centre on accessibility to these vehicles, particularly for wheelchair users, but also for other older people and disabled people. The purpose of this paper is to set out the position and advice of the Committee around how the design of small buses can be improved to ensure that more disabled people and older people can use the services provided by these vehicles in comfort and safety. In developing this paper Imtac has drawn heavily on guidance produced by the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC).
